As Little Feat sang "I've seen
the bright lights of Memphis..." - and we did!
In February thanks to the generous
help of fans and friends the Riders were all able to travel to
the International Folk Alliance conference held annually in
Memphis, TN (birthplace of Rock'n'Roll). During this pilgrimage
to Rock'n'Roll Mecca the band played 5 showcases in 4 nights,
recorded on wax cylinder recorder from the 1800's, ate
some great ribs, saw/heard some great music, and
did a recording session at the one and only Sun Studios
(Elvis, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins).
The trip was a success and the
tunes recorded at Sun and on the wax cylinder will be
available soon. Pictures can be seen at: http://www.facebook.com/theridersmusic
Next on the horizon is
Carriage House Media's In The Room series. This TV
series showcases the artistic process and episodes range from
painters to musicians to photographers and beyond. Catch a glimpse
of the trailer for the series at: http://vimeo.com/10027536
See you soon

perform with) 70's hit-makers America. Devin & Tom were
invited to perform the grand finale of "Horse With No
Name" with America. Devin took a solo that made the crowd
holler for more as Tom sang harmonies with the band and played
the tambourine. You can see photos (courtesy of Steve Covault)

Where to begin?! Let's start with a great review of 200
Miles From Everywhere... from the San Diego Troubadour.
Here's a little blurb for you:
"If you can imagine U2's Bono fronting the E Street
Band with a couple of the Heartbreakers sitting in, you might
have some idea of what the Riders sound like. Their brand of
rock is firmly rooted in Americana, but their excursions into
other styles reveal their versatility and sense of musical
adventure...This is a band that has distilled its influences
into a very coherent and focused musical statement."

NEW RECORDINGS NOW AVAILABLE!!
Overnight Success
Recorded
in 24 hours at Signature Sound Studios (U2, Blink 182, Jewel)
in San Diego, Tom Cusimano & The Riders have taken their
years of experience playing off of one another and recorded
eight new tracks that showcase each of their individual
talents as musicians and their incredible sense as an
ensemble. From Lavalle Houser’s thundering funk-fueled bass
lines locked into Jimmy Olson’s Keith Moon influenced
rhythms on drums mixed with Neil
MacPherson’s Jimmy Smith style of virtuosity on B3,
Wurlitzer, and piano, all fueling the fire of Tom Cusimano’s
Bob Dylan/Bruce Springsteen inspired lyrics and Mark Knopfler
meets Dave Matthews style of guitar this group found the muse
and held on tight. While capturing every emotion and piece of
raw energy these songs represent these four musicians managed
to keep the mood light so you can’t stop your foot from
tapping along to the beat and your lips from smiling at every
hook.

From Everywhere... from Vermont's Seven Days paper
(Tom Cusimano's hometown arts paper) - excerpt below
"...this is a
topnotch American-rock record"
"The bottom
line is that the dude is good at what he does. And what he
does is write pitch-perfect acoustic rock songs with a clear
reverence for the roads his forbears traveled"

In other news...
The Riders acoustic tour of the country is just about
wrapped up (one more show in LA on Dec 5th) and was a great
success. Selling out of CDs on the road, playing a ton of
great shows and meeting tons of new people. Some of my
favorite moments include a cover of The Band's The Weight with
28 North in Pittsburgh, an extremely interactive crowd in
Charlotte, seeing friends I hadn't seen in years and utilizing
their couches and/or spare bedrooms. Really my mind is filled
with a thousand great memories and conversations with new
friends from the tour...too many to list. Thanks for making it
so great!
Because of all the support and enthusiasm we have decided
to record a few more tracks next month.
Stay tuned for more info on the upcoming recordings...
Happy Thanksgiving!
